Generally, placed close to the supply discharge of the pump.
after gate valve, because when you want make maintenance for sump pump , you don't want all water in the pipe drop down sump pump - gate valve - non return valve
It keeps the water that is pumped out from flowing back into the sump when the pump shuts off. Most sumps discharge several feet above the hole the pump sits in. If there was not a check valve the sump would just refill and pump out the water over and over.

You connect the discharge side of the pump with PVC pipe to the inlet side of the filter or back wash valve. For above ground pools this is usually done with a section of ribbed hose.
check valve
Your bike pump may not be working properly due to a clogged valve, a damaged or worn-out pump head, a leak in the hose, or low pressure in the pump. Check these components to troubleshoot the issue.
To properly attach and use the bicycle pump hose to inflate your tires, follow these steps: Remove the cap from the valve on the tire. Attach the pump hose securely to the valve by pressing it on and twisting it if necessary. Begin pumping air into the tire by pushing and pulling the pump handle. Monitor the pressure using a gauge on the pump or a separate pressure gauge. Stop pumping when the desired pressure is reached, typically indicated on the tire sidewall. Disconnect the pump hose from the valve and replace the cap. Remember to check your tire pressure regularly to ensure safe and efficient riding.
Fuel pump check valve is on the pump in the tank. vacuum check valve is in the line going through the firewall.
A sump pump discharge line should run as far from the foundation walls as possible.
The flow back check valve is in the pump.
There could be a few reasons why your bike pump is not showing any pressure when you try to inflate your tires. It could be due to a leak in the pump or the hose, a problem with the valve on the tire, or the pump may not be properly connected to the valve. Check for any visible damage or obstructions, and make sure the pump is securely attached to the valve before trying again.
