This is the result of shape memory. often hoses are stored in a coiled position and when they are put into the pool they want to return to the position they were in when they were stored. The answer to the problem is to lay the hose out in a straight line in the sun for a few hours to get rid of the shape memory. If it isn't hot enough to do the job or you are impatient then simply fill the hose with hot water to attain the same result quickly.
i believe it would most likely eat up the seals and probably damage the hoses.

First check the vacuum hoses visually then with the engine running, spray carb cleaner at the suspected areas. When you spray a cracked area the engine rpms will increase.
Undo the top hose clamp and the bottom hose clamp then twist the hoses off the filter put in the new filter and put the hoses on reclamp and your done
