between the comp and the reversing valve
my northstar pool pump is making noise.I think it might need new bearings. How do I take the motor off./
Plugged pump, very dirty filter. Do you actually mean the filter or the pump. Filter is big tank. Pump is small unit with motor attached.
I had a look to se if I could find a craster pool pump and had no luck however the impeller on every pool pump I have ever seen is in the impeller housing which is bolted straight against the motor.

Possibly you have a broken shaft or you may have a problem with the condensers that are needed to get the motor turning in the first place. These are usually situated in a little box on the top of the motor. A: No broken shaft. The "condenser" is called a capacitor. If you can remove the motor take it into your local pool store and they can check the motor and capacitor. You then will need a new pump seal and gasket once you get your motor from the repair shop. k
You should never run a swimming-pool pump dry! The most likely problem, from the rather flimsy evidence in your question hinting at it not rotating, is not with the pump or its motor but a fault in the electrical supply to the pool plant, or in the timer or other pump controller.
