No, Duct Tape isn't a fix all, while it will help for small puncture holes. However, duct type will not fix a rip because the rip will increase in size with pressure. In this case you should just get a new matress.

It is where the water ends up that counts. It will eventually leak out of the duct and get into ceilings and may find its way to an electric panel or lighting fixture. If this happened recently run the heat to help dry out the duct and watch areas beneath where the duct runs to see if you have any seepage.

Although waterbeds tend to be the most comfortable type of bed you could sleep on, there is always the risk of leaking. Whether from an earring puncture or a major puncture from something more substantial, you want to isolate and repair before you lose your beloved bed. There is a great cost-efficient and easy way to repair these leaks that many of you may not know about. So, next time you wound your waterbed mattress, don’t throw it away because you can fix it to make it just like new. 1.%09Find the leak. You may already know where it is, but if there is too much water coming out and too small of a hole to determine the location, take a soapy rag and rub down the mattress. Any leak will create suds identifying the leak. 2.%09Mark the leak. When you go to repair it, you want to know the exact range that needs to be covered. This can be done with a permanent marker to show the area of the damage. 3.%09Find the appropriate repair kit. You can find these kits at a waterbed retailer, online, and at many fix-it and do-it-yourself appliance stores. You should get the kit that will be most effective at repairing the leak you have. 4.%09Clean the damaged area. The kit will provide an adhesive patch that will only adhere to a clean mattress. Debris will allow the patch to become unstuck and cause the leak to reoccur. Taking a cotton swab and alcohol, thoroughly clean the area for the patch, including about an inch further from the area of the patch. 5.%09Cut the patch to fit the leak. You want to make sure you cut an adequate sized patch that will cover the hole and the surrounding area adequately. You generally want to make sure the hole is covered very well with plenty of room surrounding to ensure it doesn’t seep out the side of the patch. 6.%09Apply as directed. Make sure there are no air holes or folds in the adhesive patch that may cause it to become unstuck in the future. Knowing how to fix a waterbed leak is very important if you want to keep your bed intact. Any damage can be repaired with the appropriate technique.

Ducts are passages throughout the house that allow air to pass through. If there is a leak in the duct, it can heat or cool areas you don't want it to and it costs you money to do so. Repairing it will save you money overall.
