∙ 17y agoDoesn't some amount of water help hold the pools shape so it doesn't colapse? I had an upbove ground pool that we left a little water in for the winter so it wouldn't fall down w/the winter storms. They sure are not fun to clean in the spring though. It depends on the ground water level. If your ground water is high enough to float the pool, it's a bad idea. If ground water is high the pool needs the weight of the water to keep it from being damaged. If ground water is low, it doesn't really matter.

∙ 17y agoThe ground gets hard and bumpy in winter due to the freezing and thawing cycle of water in the soil. When water in the ground freezes, it expands and can push the soil particles up, creating a bumpy surface. As the temperature fluctuates, the repeated freezing and thawing causes the ground to become harder and uneven.
this winter will be freezing cold like always
In the summer it was hot and humid almost about 74f degrees and in the winter it was at least 24f degrees and it was freezing and there was snow on the ground.
You can plant potatoes as early in the spring/late winter as the ground is workable. The plants can usually handle light frosts, but not ground freezing. Probably February in Louisiana.
In winter ponies and horses will grow long winter coats to protect themselves from the cold. If there is snow on the ground, they will paw at the snow to uncover the grass below. They may also have to break through ice on their water source, however, if it gets too thick they cannot and if this is the case, you need to or get something to prevent the water from freezing over.
Freezing blizzards.
There is always snow on the ground and temperatures are almost always below freezing but during the Southern "summer" the sun never sets - for months at a time!
No, most I have seen survive through the winter unharmed. If draining the pool is not acceptable (as often is the case) then an insulated pool cover will likely be needed to help prevent damage in the event of a sudden drop in temperature.
Lantana should live through the winter outside with out bringing them in, if planted in the ground.. In a pot,, yes , bring them in , the pot would freeze.
Winter white frost can form on the ground even when temperatures are above freezing if the ground surface temperature is lower than the air temperature, leading to condensation of water vapor on the ground. This process can occur due to radiational cooling during clear nights or near dawn when temperatures drop rapidly.
Biennial anthophytes survive the winter by storing energy reserves in their roots, which they use to regrow and flower in the following year. They also have strategies such as producing a rosette of leaves close to the ground to protect them from freezing temperatures.
