It is a vacuum. It should be picking up fairly well. That is what is was made to do and be sold as. If it is not, then check your filter.
I have a DE filter. I backwashed it and put more material back in and then the vacuum is working much better and very obvious.
I also have found that the recirculate setting is much better for vacumming if you have a return line type of vacuum. The flow is much faster and therefore the suction much faster.
Without going to the trouble of using a flow meter test which will normally read some where between 222 l/pm or 13320 l/pH that is 58.65 g/pm or 3518.7 g/pH at its weakest to 110 l/pm or 6600 l/pH that is 29.5 g/pm or 1743.5 g/pH
A pretty good indicator would be that with the pump going you cant or have a lot of difficulty removing the vacuum plate over the top of the leaf basket. remember the suction can be quite strong at that intake so don't let your hand get caught by it.
The one way you colud tell if the pool pump is not working propley is by checking if the pool is getting air inside or idf theres a hole in the pool or in the pool pump.
If your pressure on your filter is low then check to see if your basket has crack and letting debris get past. This will clog the impeller and slow down the water flow. If you have good return in the pool then you are getting a good return through your pump. If you can see that the pump basket area (trap) is full of water or in this case full prime than you are OK. If you have half or 1/4 full in this area then the impeller or you have air coming into the pump. If your pressure gauge is high try to backwash or clean your filter and see if this didn't help the flow.
It want stay running
A pool pump should only be replaced if and when it fails. A pool pump needs proper maintanance in order to function properly, and should last the life of the pool ith proper care.
If its not closed properly water will leak out when the pump us running.
no you would have to do something about it
You can check if your water pump is working by listening for any abnormal noises from the pump, monitoring the water pressure and flow rate in your system, and inspecting the pump for any leaks or visible damage. If your water pump is not working properly, you may experience low water pressure, air sputtering from faucets, or no water flow at all.
A fuel pressure test can determine if the pump is working properly or not.
how do you know if your fuel pump not working 1983 ford 250 an how do you change it
I am no heat pump expert, but whatever you do, DO NOT buy a suretemp pool heating pump, as they stop working under 65 degrees. Their web site and literature state 45 degrees, but that is not the truth. I have called them about my new pool heater and they say there is nothing they can do.
how do you know if the fuel pump is not working what are some signs. my care just won't kick over i have a new battery was working then just stopped
A properly installed AUTOMOTIVE TYPE HOSE CLAMP would do the trick!
