The white marks are truly water marks-t here is a small amount of water down in the finish. Use a few drops of denatured alcohol (TEST in an inconspicuous place on the furniture first!) Spread the few drops of alcohol over the spot, let set for a few minutes- water marks should go away- wipe surface with a lint free cloth. Do NOT use rubbing alcohol, get denatured alcohol from the paint shop. You may need to do this a few times. The alcohol is pulling the water out of the finish.
