yes and no. photography these days is just a simple point and click, there isn't a requirement of using art to angle the camera or to use light to get just the right effect. if you want to get a shaft of sunlight across the subject's face then you just photoshop it into the image. it is butchering the art of well placed photography and so in that regard the art of photography is dead. the art of photography is expanding in other areas though. you can make images that were never before possible, and can use programs such as photoshop to blend merge and modify images. this might butcher and wipe out the art of standard photo to product photography, but im today's society more and more photo's are becoming a photo to computer modification to image. causing the images to get ever more detailed and complex. so photography is not a "lost" art, but is instead a changing art.
