Maybe the number is not clear or the typing is otherwise in error. It will give a message and if typed in with the valid number will only add to your wallet or say it was already redeemed

When your on the PlayStation store and you 'add it to cart' it should say add funds to wallet unless you already have money in the 'wallet'. When you add funds it asks for card details and so on. You can delete billing information on the ps3 by going to Account Management>billing information>delete info. Hope that helped.
