In addition to the above answer; the job openings in this industry are almost non-existent in the traditional sense of the word. For the most part in our profession we only hire artists who have a solid reputation and usually come highly recommended to us by fellow artists. It's VERY hard to just walk into a shop and get a job unless your portfolio is great and it is evident that you really know what you are talking about over the duration of a good conversation regarding tattoos, application, tattoo artists and so on. Since so many people are getting tattoos now, and it seems to be the new hep profession for a lot of cool kids to have, they've flooded a market that wasn't huge to begin with and in doing so have made it almost impossible to get into a shop for a lot of people. So it is for that reason, that once an artist gets in a shop, he or she rarely leave unless they get a better job and apprentice lists are usually a mile long in any shop. However, if you do get into a good shop with a solid reputation and good location, you can make a very good living doing it.
it depends on what kind of art you do.Like if you have the skills of an anime artist, and you are not in Japan, there is not a huge chance of being famous. But if you do oil paintings or something, you could never know, medium or high .Art is not
really famous,i feel you too.......

Yes if the tattoo artist is a good tattoo artist it is safe to get, but it is not safe for guaranteeing your job. Neck tattoos will really limit job opportunities. I'm a tattoo artist and I haven't taken that step yet because i don't know what my future may hold.
