At least 120 Hz refresh rate (240 Hz if you can afford it)
Definitely 1080p for any TV over 32"
Preferably some kind of de-juddering to smooth out the imaging for fast-motion images.
Big size is great but make sure it fits your room comfortably.
Plenty of inputs.
LED gives a brighter display but for this definitely get minimum 120 Hz and some kind of motion correction.
A Sharp Aquos.
To elaborate further:
The best TV to play Video Games on are generally Plasma TV's with their high refresh rates and ability to display fast motion for games with minimal blur or lag. This is especially helpful with timing-sensitive video games.
LCD TV's are second to Plasma in those areas.
A Sharp Aquos is an LCD, however certain LCD models have built-in "Game Modes' to handle fast motion video games better than other LCD sets.

In my opinion? The bigger, the better. Most games nowadays use small fonts that dont show up very good or are very blurry on standard definition tvs. Hi-Def and huge is a good rule of thumb.
Edit: A "here's your sign" moment I had a few months ago...My best friend has a '55 inch home theatre style TV that he uses for gaming. Anyway, I had been playing a first person shooter for a few hours sitting MAYBE 3 feet from the screen. When I went to get up, I fell flat on my face. Sitting in front of the screen for that long altered the way my eyes perceived my surroundings. A word to the wise - sit back!

3D television is an emerging technology and the market is changing fast. There are two type of 3D television, one that uses active glasses and the other that uses passive glasses.
The passive glasses are considered to have less flicker but at the expense of some resolution. Active glasses have been criticized for flicker but as the technology develops this is likely to become far less of an issue.
The only way to decide if a particular model is right for you is to see it and experience 3D on it. Your own perception of flicker and general quality is the best way to assess the latest products and models.
hdtvs that are 1080p i prefer Samsung and sony except for Guitar Hero because you have to calibrate the lag.
Some people say that all LED televisions are pretty equal when it comes to online gaming. However there are also proponents of specific brands. A good forum that discusses the subject can be found at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1178735.
Sometimes it depends in what kind of TV you have, some TV's prefere 1080i to 1080p for example. But if you have a very good HD TV then 1080P is the best resolution to pick for High def Xbox 360 gaming. Hope this helped.
Yes, certain Samsung televisions can play 3d. Yes, the 1080p is very good for gaming and gaming systems. Buying online is a good option since the prices can be cheaper and there are usually more sales available.
A Samsung 55 in led TV is great for gaming. These TVs are in High Definition and on a big screen so details in games would be great on the Samsung 55 led TV .
Some advantages of console gaming is that every game you buy for a console will work on a console unlike PC gaming. It is also easy to set up and connect to your TV and fits nicely in your hand.
If Sony has a products there is a good chance they have a mini some of their minis include TVs, Handheld Gaming units, Mini/portable DVD units as well as cameras.

Weird question, we aren't aliens. Sport, Gaming, Reading, TV oh and eating and sleeping are pretty good too.
All of the top brands are fine for gaming, However plasma displays have a better response time than LCD.
