There are a total of sixteen perks in Modern Warfare 2. There are five tier 1 perks, five tier 2 perks and six tier 3 perks. Each perk can be upgraded to a pro version which gives the perk a new ability. To unlock a pro version of a perk complete the fourth challenge for that perk. There are a total of six challenges for each perk. There are also Death Streak Perks, these perks do NOT have a pro version.

Here is a list of all the perks and a description of what they do.

Tier 1 Perks

There are significantly fewer perks than the other Call of Duty games. There are less perks but they are ones you will use all the time. Like in Call of Duty 4 and 5 there is EAVESDROP. Who uses that? There are also death perks which you can use after you die. Some perks I know are STOPPING POWER, COPYCAT:which is a death perk that you can use to copy the class that the person who killed you used, COMMANDO:Increased melee distance, LIGHT FOOTED:which makes you move faster, SCAVENGER:which lets you pick up ammo and grenades when you walk over a body, and many more!

You guys have to check out the videos for customized kill streaks (on YouTube or modernwarfare2's video forum). You can customize whether you want 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 15, 25 killstreak rewards etc. You get to man an AC-130 gunship! Blue Perks:

• Marathon: Allows unlimited sprint, the pro version allows you to climb over obstacles quicker.
• Sleight of Hand: Allows you to reload your weapon faster, the pro version allows you to aim down your nearly twice as fast.
• Scavenger: When enemies die they drop a blue bag, walking over the bag with the scavenger perk allows you to resupply your loadout. The pro version gives you twice as much ammunition.
• One Man Army: Allows you to switch classes without dying, it also allows you to refresh your class giving you full ammo and equipment again. The pro version allows you to switch classes faster.
• Bling: Allows you to have 2 attachments on your primary weapon, the pro version allows you to have 2 attachments on your secondary weapon.

Red Perks:

• Stopping Power: Increases your bullet damage, increases your bullet damage against vehicles.
• Lightweight: Allows you to run faster, even past claymores. The pro version allows you to shoot after runnig quicker.
• Hardline: Killstreak rewards are decreased by one kill, the pro version decreases the death streaks by one death.
• Cold-Blooded: Prevents you from flashing white on thermal scopes and from being seen by air support. The pro version takes away the red name above you when enemies see you and when an enemies crosshairs fall on you they don't flash red.
• Danger Close: Increases the blast radius on explosive weapons, the pro version increases your air support damage.

Green Perks:

• Commando: Increases melee distance(knife or riot shield attacks), the pro version eliminates fall damage.
• Steady Aim: Increases hip-fire accuracy, the pro version increases the time you can hold your breath on any thermal scope or any sniper rifle equipped with any attachment other than an ACOG scope by 6 seconds, bringing the regular 3 to 4 seconds to 9 to 10 seconds.
• Scrambler: Jams the UAV of enemies close to you but also gives your location away to nearby enemies. The pro version delays claymore triggers.
• Ninja: You will not appear on heartbeat sensors, the pro version silences your footsteps by 75%.
• Sitrep: A claymore, C4 pack, frag grenade, semtex grenade, and a tactical insertion will flash red and can be seen through walls, but to gain sitrep pro you must destroy enemy equipment and you can only destroy C4 packs, claymores, and tactical insertions. The pro version counter-acts the Ninja Pro perk and increases the sound of enemy foot steps.
• Last Stand: Before you die you drop to the ground and whip out a pistol that you can use to kill enemies for 10 seconds, during that 10 seconds you have the option to take the "cowards way out"(commit suicide) by pressing the button indicated on the screen. The pro version allows you to use your own loadout when you enter Last Stand. The deathstreak Final Stand is similar to this perk but after about 30 seconds of using Final Stand if you are still alive you will stand back up.
