In Pikmin, you can unlock the three types of Pikmin and new areas in the Story mode, and the Challenge mode on the main menu.
In Pikmin 2, you just get "The Key". In Pikmin 1 and I believe Pikmin 3, you have to beat the game.
Get all three types of Pikmin in the Story mode, and the Challenge mode will be unlocked on the main menu.
Unknown, maybe working with seven different types of Pikmin at the same time would make the main story too complex.
The old ones: -Red -Blue -Yellow They will be in the story. -White -Purple Are not going to be in the story but in a different mode in the game. Two new pikmin: -Rock -Flying Will be in all modes
White Pikmin are the fifth type of Pikmin introduced, first found in Pikmin 2. They are the second smallest type of Pikmin, and by far the fastest of them. They are poisonous, which gives them immunity to poison hazards and causes damage to enemies that eat them. They have no Onion, and reproduce solely through Ivory Candypop Buds, found in some underground caves. They appear in Pikmin 3 only in Mission Mode and Bingo Battle.
Introduced in Pikmin 2, White Pikmin possess enhanced speed, immunity to poison, and the ability to sense and unearth buried treasures. Also, if enemies eat them, the enemies will take poison damage. White Pikmin return in Pikmin 3, though only in Mission Mode and Bingo Battle. They retain their speed and damaging ability to enemies that eat them, but as there are no poison hazards or buried treasures, their other abilities are absent.
