It depends on where you are getting it. If you are getting it from a store, it is completely worth it as the store would most likely have refurbished it, and the iPod Touch still works. If you are buying it used from a buddy, don't take the risk.

To me; it would depend on the price. I bought two used xbox 360's and both of them had the 3 red lights issue. Called Microsoft and they have both been repaired(at no additional cost to myself). So it can be worth it; yes. I also had a new one do the same thing; so there is always risk. I personally would get a new one with a warranty, but if you are only worried about the 3 red lights; new/used are repaired for free by Microsoft with no time limit as of right now.
