Hi, Just want to give a little bit more info on the problem:
I'd never really bothered with Java until I tried to play minecraft (to be quite honest, I'm not much of a computer person at all) but have since discovered there's some kind of issue with my Java. When I try to load my downloaded version of Minecraft it gives me an error message before I try to sign in - signing in is hopeless, btw. It just doesn't work. The error message I receive is a HTML code: "<html><body><font color="#808080"><br><br><br><br><br><br>… to update news<br>java.net.SocketException: Connection reset</center></font></body></html>" The in browser version does not work either.
After trawling through several help sites I discovered it was in fact a problem with my Java. It was recommended that I uninstall Java and try re-installing it. I did this and tried installing both the 32-bit and the 64-bit (though my laptop is 32-bit). The version I downloaded was the newest 7.4 version. I tested my Java download on the Java website after both downloads and both times it told me there was an error! The error message I am recieving is as follows:
"ClassNotFoundExcepton
testJava2_1.TestVMApplet.class"
I have tried running it on Firefox and IE as well as Chrome - Chrome being my default browser. I have also tried all of the points that Java suggests ("
If you cannot see your machine info listed above, please check these additional configurations:
Enable Java through your Web browser
Enable Java through the "Java Plug-in Control Panel"
Clearing your Web Browser Cache
Firefox 3.6 and above requires Java 6 Update 10 or above
Java and Google Chrome Browser
Supported System Configurations")
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening and what else I can do?
in a way but yea i would not recomend it, it slows down your PC.
Minecraft is made to work with ANY computer that uses java.
Programs that are specifically designed with Java require a Java runtime to work on a computer. (In the case of Java, the runtime is called "Java Virtual Machine".) If you have any such program, you need to have Java.
You may need to download the newest version of Java for minecraft to work. Or maybe your computer can not handle it.
Yes. Frostwire will work on any computer with Java installed, regardless of brand.
The easiest way to check which version of Java is running on a computer is to ask Java directly. The website Java Tester has conveniently provided an applet which finds and displays the Java version currently used by the computer.
Open cmd and type java
A computer programmer who uses the Java language.
No. Java is free software.
The language is platform independent. If I develop a program on my Windows computer using Java, the same program will work on a Mac or Linux/Unix computer without further modification. Java is also useful for developing applications on mobile devices, many of todays current cell phones use a Java based operating system.
Try downloading the latest version of java from oracle. Actually Java is simply a language. It is a tool. It should not change your computer. Something is wrong with your computer if Java changes your computer. Usually it is not Java changing your computer but a virus latching onto Java. You must keep your antivirus software up to date and you must keep your Java up to date or you will have problems. If you have a MAC, apple has stopped supporting Java. Hackers are using it to hack into computers. Update it from Oracle or get rid of it.
