This depends if the children have been put in detention for something misbehavioural, if not then no. Out of school times a child's parent are responsible for their child.
When you chew gum.
because more then likely they did somthing bad so they put them in there:]
1. In the locker, there will be gum. 2. Chew the gum in the hallway. 3. The angry teacher will put you in detention for chewing gum. 4. Put the stink bomb on the floor in the detention room. 5. The teacher will leave. 6. Go in the filing cabinet to the secret room.
Your teacher can put you in detention for any reason they wish. I'm sure the school has a set of parameters, but saying 'No' to a teacher is going to be well within that list. if he does that move to another school

Mrs. Godfrey will put you into detention if you chew gum in school. To elude her, have a stink bomb ready when she catches you. Using the stink bomb in the detention room will cause her to leave, and you can get to the filing cabinet and secret room. (see related question)
