The male uses a special arm to place sperm in the female, she then lays fertilized eggs in the top of her den and she aerates and guards (and cleans) them until they hatch. She seals the den with rocks just before they hatch and as soon as they hatch, she dies.

When really mature; Octupus females lay eggs on a rocky den(space between rocks...) They can lay from 20,000 to 100,000 eggs depends of the kind of octopus.

They lay eggs over a period of several days. The female tended, cleaned and aerated the eggs until they hatch. The incubation depends on the type of octupus and it will take 150 days to seven or more months; depending on the temperature. The females do not feed while they are tending the eggs. Usually the female die when the eggs hatch or shortly after this.

Answer:Remember a mature female octopus lay eggs very near to the end of her life. And they use DENS ,so other species to protect themselves and mostly the "babies" from predators.

Octopuses can lay eggs. However, sadly the females die almost immediately after their eggs hatch. The males die a few months after they have reproduced.

The octopus is the largest family of the Mollusca phylum, and they are a sexually reproducing species. The males have a penis that protrudes from one of their legs. During mating, the male will place the penis directly into the mantle, the head, of the female octopus. This is where the eggs are stored. The female stores the sperm until the eggs are mature, and then allows them to be fertilized. The female lays the eggs, then one month later they hatch. Both male and female die shortly after this.
