One way is to right click, the click Zoom.

On a Mac you hit view / voom in - to enlarge and / voom out - to return one click at a time / or actual size to return to where you started in one click.

Please see the Related Question 'How do you use the magnification or zoom tools in the computer?' for more options.
Assuming you have a 'wheel-mouse' - hold down the CTRL key, and rotate the wheel away from you. To zoom out, rotate it towards you.

Do you mean in and out of third person? Hit F5. On a Mac, you may have to hold the Function (fn) key while doing so.
