You can't automatically. You have to research every player and trade for 2010-2011 season and do it manually. Short of that, you can buy NBA 2k11. On NBA 2k10 I did a few trades, but they were only really important ones such as the Miami Heat Big Three (LeBron, Wade, and Bosh). I didn't have internet/2k stopped updating rosters, so I had to do it manually. If you only want to make a few major trades, do it manually, but if you want really current rosters, you're gonna have to do a ton of work or buy NBA 2k11. Sorry dude.
You go into online, from the opening menu. Then scroll down to rosters. And click on download rosters.
Or you can just play an online game, and it will make you update them before you play.
go to join a quick online match, and a window will appear asking you to download the roster update.
just play online.. it will not let you play if you don't have the roster update and give you an option to download it there.
