I have that problem once, I was trying to do a research, I have a lot of tabs or subscreens opened in my browser, it's pretty annoying!.
You can resolve it by:
1st. (optional) Turn off your speakers! (could be very annoying to hear them all the way).
2nd. Leave for some time the internet browser (if you're watching a video, pause it), for at least 20 secs.
3rd. Go into the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)
4th. Go to the Processes Tab clicking on it.
5th. And sort them by CPU (clicking on the header of the column with that name, 3rd. col.) and see what process that belongs to the browser (i.e.: Chrome, Firefox, IEXPLORE, etc.) has the highest usage, if you got zeroes at the top, click once again in the header, now you'll see a hog guy, that's the one is causing you the problem!
6th. Before you kill him, TURN ON the speakers! and then click on that fat guy (highlight it) and kill him by pressing the 'End Process" button at the bottom of the window. You'll notice that the audio ad is gone!
7th. If it isn't gone, probably is the next one (but I doubt it, I've done this quite a few times and always has been the hugest one, but who knows).
NOTE: If this doesn't work, probably you have a video ad open and WITH SOUND in some internet window. You can find it by scrolling up & down in the internet windows.
Below of the video ad you'll see the volume (looks like a speaker) turn it off by clicking on it.
I hate them, so that's why I put this solution once I found it by myself, I read some posts but they didn't work.

why does this sites pages jump around when you are trying to read it? because the text loads up first, then, all those annoying ads. as the ads load, the page jumps to insert them. it is really annoying. Lee at pumpkinsfreebies.com
The plan is usually to make memorable ads; one way of doing that is to make annoying ones - if you remember it, then it's worked.
coz they have rubbish ads
Ads are annoying but they pay for the hardware of the site (which is free to you).

Get adblock. It's a plugin for Firefox or Google Chrome which gets rid of 99% of ads.

A solution to annoying sponsored ads would be to install an Ad Blocker plugin for your browser. Sponsored ads are pretty common place these days, and they are everywhere.
Annoying as they are, popup ads are effective. They put the product right in front of a potential buyer and the names are difficult to forget.
Sign up as a member and you'll have the option of not seeing the ads. Just unclick the ads option on your My Settings page which all members have.
Because of all the ads that have to load. Very annoying
