well... i know were to get it in soul silver but i dont know about heart gold.. u can get heracross by using headbutt in azeala town(near new bark town) the best chance of getting heracross is to do it in the night i think, near the pokemon centre(the trees around it)
go to azelea town pokemoncenter take a hard left stop beside SLOWPOKE WELL go up use headbutt on the small trees (if not gotten go to ILEX FOREST and talk to the green haird guy and he will give you headbutt).And it`s best if you give it to one of these Abra,Wobbafet,Aipom,the three starters or togepi.
Headbutt trees in mountainous areas. It is considered uncommon to get. You can also find aipom as well.
Mountain locations are: Route 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 42, 43, 44
