you catch the tiny birds in faron woods with your net, and yay, you got a bird feather. but you need to be very slow with no sudden movements. A way to harvest lots of these is to go in the sealed temple, and back out the big double doors, and a flock of birds should be hanging out there. if they fly away, just go through the doors and then back out again, and they should be there. other than there, you can find them almost anywhere in Faron woods.
If you but the bug net from "Beedle's Airshop" you equip the net and then slowly approach a bird on the surface, usually around the forest areas, and right in front of the sealed grounds temple. Then if you "catch" the bird by swinging the net over and through the bird you will obtain a bird feather.
It is the same process with blue bird feathers only you have to catch a blue bird.
Go to a bird statue
You need to get your sword first to get your bird of of the cage Groose & his "posse" put your Loftwing in. Go to the sparring hall & the knight commander will teach you about swordplay. Once you get the hang of it go to the left side of the waterfall & follow the path to recieve your Loftwing.
**SPOILER**City in the sky is also a dungeon level. Go to the shop in the city, (its located a little ways passed where the pool of water is) talk to the Oocoo. This will make the game continue on. A scene where a huge bird flies into the city should occur. Your goal is to kill it.
Okay, this is more of a matter of opinion, but I will give you mine. So I have played both games and I have to say, they're really close, but I would have to give Skyward Sword my vote. In Skyward Sword, you have a little more involvement with the other characters. You also get to ride a bird instead of a horse. Also, I like the added challenge of having to get the Triforce your self. The spirit trials are really close to the challenge in Twilight Princess where you have to collect all of the bugs, but the Spirit Trials are a lot more challenging and give you that on-the-edge-of-your-seat moment. I really like how you can fight all of the bosses you have fought before as well. Hope this helps! ;)
Assuming you are referring to Skyward Sword: Link was and raised in Skyloft, a land floating above the clouds and above the land of Hyrule. An adept bird rider (the trailer shows him riding a large bird/pterodactyl-esque creature), Link wins a contest held during a festival celebration, and will receive a prize from Princess Zelda. They embark on a flight trip; however, a tornado suddenly appears and takes Zelda. Link must rescue her, and to aid him on his quest, the villagers give him his trademark green clothing and the titular Skyward Sword, which is occupied by a spirit named Phi who accompanies Link on his quest. Link travels to Hyrule, and ventures to the Sky Temple where Zelda is supposedly kept prisoner. Here he meets the Demon Lord Ghiramim, ruler of the chaotic surface world. His tribe also seeks Zelda, for reasons yet unknown. Ghirahim escapes after haven been defeated, and Link resumes his quest to rescue the princess before she is found by Ghirahim's forces.
