It is really hard. You have to make monty break the ice or break it yourself. Then when monty runs to the edge you kick him. He will fall over into the spikes. Then jump away. Monty will jump back and an ice crystal will fall down. Take the crystal and throw it at monty's front when he runs at you. Repeat three times.

What I did is I waited in the far right corner until the chompers got mad then jumped on the purple mushroom when he got too close.
