On the last level of Halo 1 You are on the Pillar of Autumn where it crashed on the halo. Spartan 117 uses a warthog to drive to the other end of the pillar of Autumn and escape the ship. The problem is that the flood infest the Ship so driving is difficult and the ship is exploding. At the very end he reaches a blackbird ship and pilots out.

Hey, actually at the very end of Reach they show Master Chief and Cortana but not were they were in halo 3. When you see him,hes is frozen at the time of Halo 1 not Halo reach. This can be very confusing, I know. Remember, Reach is a prequal to Halo 1.( Halo Reach happened before Halo 1 but not made before.) =P

No. Halo Wars was set far before the happenings of Halo 1, which had the Master Chief in it. Sargent Forge (Also not sharing the same name with the Chief) was killed at the End of Halo Wars, and could not have lived on to take part in the happenings of Halo 1.
