Scratches can not be cleaned they are not dirt. If you try many of the home remedies you will find that they do not work. Often having the disc cleaned and polished in a professional machine does not restore a unworkable disc back into a trouble free condition
You fix discs by using a kit with a series of abrasives, from course to light, to wear down scratches - step by step - to a smooth finish. Professional systems use multiple abrasives, consisting of different hardness and shapes (sharp to smooth).
Regardless of product or system used, the key is to use a series of abrasives (more than one stage) to gradually bring the plastic back to a polished surface.
If you want to remove all scratches on your disc, take a look at the 5-stage Scratch Pro repair kit. It will bring the disc back to its original shine and you will have a kit on hand to fix the next disc. Also do a search for scratch repair to see what is out there in your area. To do a targeted search, use the + sign in front of the search words +disc +scratch +repair
From Merlin's Table's site… "CENTRE RING DAMAGE... The ring around the centre of the disc contains the data that tells the console player or CD player what the disc is all about. When this ring is scratched or scuffed or hazy, the disc will not register in the console. The ring is on the non-labeled (data/playing) side of the disc, around the centre hole. Look closely and you will see a small shiny band in this highly reflective area. This area and any other scratches on this side of the disc can be fixed using your repair kit."
If you have mayonnaise and a napkin or towel, you can easily fix a scratched disk. All you need to do is slather mayonnaise on the disk and wait for about one minute, take off the mayonnaise using your napkin or towel and the scratch is gone, try it!
How can you remove scratches from discs?
The best way to remove scratches from discs such as Video Games, DVD'S, CD'S is to use a product called Brasso. Brasso is very cheap to buy and works very well. Most of the time it removes the scratch straight away. But if it doesn't go straight away do it a few more times until the scratch finally disappears.
Below is the method how you use it:
use rubbing achohol and clean the scratches
When I need to clean a disk, I grab some shampoo and spread it over the disk, then I rinse it off. Don't scrub it. Then I dry it off with a tissue. I also do this for scratched games. It doesn't actually fix the scratches, but it somehow helps and I'm able to play the game again.
take it to checkouts or a pawn shop to be cleaned
Most are not dirty they are scratched and you can not clean off scratches they can sometimes be polished off professionally.
Rub toothpaste on it with a cotton ball then clean off with another clean cotton ball then dry it off
If the shopkeeper is kind enough, bring the disk back to him and ask him to repair it.
Get a slightly wet tissue and clean the bottom side of the disk by starting in the middle and carefully moving the tissue from the inside straight to the outside edge of the disk. Keep doing this till you go all around the disk. You will then need to either wait, or you dry the disk by using this same method but using a dry tissue this time.
Use toothpaste. NOT GEL! gently rub on disk and then take a wet towel and wash it off.
My mouse scratches himself to clean himself.
Toothpaste has a fine grit that will actually scratch your disk even more. I've found that the best way to fix small scratches is with peanut butter. You use a small amount of creamy (not chunky-you don't want chunks of peanuts) peanut butter, wiping it on the disk in one direction. Then, you use a clean rag to wipe the peanut butter off, in the opposite direction. It works quite well.
You shouldn't call the company because have you done any thing that could have maybe scartched the bottom of the disk? If so some stores have a disk cleaner that can clean the scratches off your disk. But if all your games aren't working you should call the company or ask a friend for help.
Your disk could be scratched, look at the bottom of the disk and look for scratches. There is a product you can buy that removes scratches without harming the disk, thus fixing your problem.
