You have got to be kidding me. I live in South Africa and I have an Xbox, a Wii, a PS3, a PS2, a PSP and a Nintendo DS (I am a female gamer and Kingdom Hearts cosplayer XD) and I have a TV.
You know, this is what gets to me. When foreign people think that we are all black and poor and live in mud huts. When I went to Europe for a family holiday, I had someone ask me if its true that we ride lions to school... We have cars. We have Malls. We Have Private schools. We have shops. We have resturants. We have EVERYTHING that you have.
I am a blonde, blue-green eyed white female. My family is white and so are my friends. There are many white people and we live in proper houses. I live in a complex and go to a private school! WE ARE NOT ALL POOR! I am not saying that I am rich, but I am definitely NOT poor.
Please try to think about South Africa in a different way. We are not all living in the bush and do not 'sing or dance' for entertainment. We read, go to the movies, hang out with friends or do other stuff. Everybody I know owns a TV. Everybody I know has DSTV (Sattelite TV)
To entertain myself, I usually play on one of my gaming consoles, watch anime or go on the internet.
We have phones, laptops, DVD's and iPods. I beg of you, please. Don't confuse those pictures you see in magazines of those skinny black starving kids begging for food on the side of the road with us South Africans. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE! If you don't believe me, look it up on Google.
