Computer animators make a wide range of salary depending on skill, location, demand, credits, and (unfortunately) negotiating skill.
As of 2009, Salaries are somewhere between:
$800/week-$4,000 USD/week in the U.S. (good ones with credits usually make around $1700 / week depending on city) $300 to $2,200 USD / month in India (the Indian salary rage doubled to this figure only in 2005 and has leveled off; most skilled animators with 3 years experience make around $1,100 / month) $300 to $1,500 USD / month in China* catching up to India, slowly
Worth noting that Videogame companies generally pay higher than TV or Feature houses in some locations such as Korea, and offer the most competitive salaries. So far, there has been no universal rating system for animators or 'standardized testing' which classifies one as an official 'Computer animator.'
Generally it takes two(2) years full time training to become skilled enough to work as a computer animator. People already skilled in 2D animation take much less time, perhaps 3 to 6 months to learn the software and techniques for CG.
One can make more if he/she is able to do freelance animation from home and if the work is available.

They don't make anything... animation isn't a real job. Loser
How much do they make
how much money does an computer programming and applications specialist make?
In malaysia, the salary for animators is underpaid!!
up to 120,000 a year
9.50 to 23.00
over 100k
They make about 630,000
A guy in computer animation would probably get $40,000 to $45,000 a year, so they get a lot of money.
That will depend very much on the age and condition of the computer. In general, computers depreciate in value very quickly.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, for Special Effects Artists and Animators, the median annual wage for special effects artists and animators was $77,700 in May 2020.
