The Continental Association was created by the First Continental Congress in response to the passage of the Coercive (or Intolerable) Acts by the British government over the American colonies. In essence, the Association was a group of representatives which came together in Philadelphia with the intent on deciding which of the Coercive Acts they wanted to repeal.
