September 4, 2009 The 1856 Seated Liberty dime was minted in 2 varieties, large date and small date, and was produced at 3 US Mint facilities; Philadelphia which is shown here as 1856-P, New Orleans which is shown here as 1856-O and San Francisco which is shown here as 1856-S. To determine which coin you have it is necessary to locate the mint mark. This mark is a small letter located on the reverse[tails] side of the coin just below the word "DIME". The circulated and uncirculated values of these coins are shown in the following list: Circulated Grades.....1856-P large date...1856-P small date..........1856-O..........1856-S G4..............................$12...........................$12...............................$12.................$109 F12.............................$18...........................$15...............................$21.................$360 EF40...........................$54...........................$44...............................$82.................$1200 AU55...........................$222........................$210..............................$510..............$2670 Uncirculated GradesMS60.........................$270..........................$264..............................$820...........$4440 MS62.........................$528..........................$420.............................$1080..........$8220 MS64......................... none.........................$1010...........................$2810..........$24,380 MS65..........................none.........................$3190...........................$4840..........$56,250
