Typical clothing that you would find among the Blackfoot was made primarily of antelope and deer skins. The women would make and decorate the clothes for everyone in the tribe. Men wore moccasins, long leggings that went up to their hips, a loincloth, and a belt. Occasionally they would wear shirts but generally they would wrap buffalo robes around their shoulders. For the distinguished men of bravery, they would be seen wearing a grizzly bear claw necklace.[28] Boys dressed much like the older males had, wearing leggings, loincloths, moccasins, and occasionally an undecorated shirt. They kept warm by wearing a buffalo robe over their shoulders or over their heads if it became cold. Women and girls wore dresses made from two or three deerskins. The women liked to wear earrings and bracelets made from sea shells that they traded for, or different types of metal. They would sometimes wear beads in their hair or paint the part in their hair red, which signified that they could still have children.
The Blackfoot Indians traditionally lived in cone-shaped dwellings called tipis, which were constructed using wooden poles and buffalo hides. These structures were portable and well-suited for the nomadic lifestyle of the Blackfoot people, allowing them to easily disassemble and move their homes as they followed the buffalo herds. Tipis were designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and provided efficient ventilation for smoke from the central fire pit.
The Blackfoot term for their tipi-style lodges is oyis. These were typical of all the Plains tribes, but Blackfoot painted lodges were very distinctive with broad bands of colour at the upper and lower edges of the cover. The lower band of colour would include one or more rows of white disks representing puffball mushrooms, which in Blackfoot religion symbolised stars that had fallen to earth.

Today the Blackfoot tribes reside on four reservations. Over 6,000 Indians, mostly of Piegan decent, live on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana (also known as Pikuni); fewer than 20 percent are full blood. In addition, there are more than 9,000 Indians living on the Blackfoot, Blood, and Piegan reservations in Alberta (Britannica Online). (According to the 1990 census by the U.S. Department of Congress there are 32,234 Blackfoot Indians comprising 1.7 percent of the current Indian population.)
