mainly a colonial printer would print books, newspapers, posters, anything. printing was a difficult process in which the printer would arrange letters on a printing press, cover them with ink, and, well, press.

Printers in colonial times were responsible for creating books and newspapers. They were able to do this by using wooden blocks that had letter shapes carved into them. They would stamp these blocks in ink and placed them on the paper to spell out the words.
