This question brings back many memories: I remember the days of being a member of the choir in my high school, we had to sing a cappella, without instruments and without any music. The director, a strict teacher, ensured that every single note was perfect and controlled. We had to sing, note by note and then in the end, the whole piece. This extremely difficult exercise ensured that we did not have to worry about the music but only focused on the notes.
