that is what i was wondering, but i think it has somthing to do with how chesapeake land was fertile and was used for farming, but it was abused by people who grew tobacco on it, since tobacco wears out the land that it is grown on. In the the New England area they could not farm that much since the area had cold weather. they had to use lumber and wood to survive and stuff.
it influenced the way the English colonies developed by making the slaves plant crops in the south so the owners of the slaves make money.and by how some of the people in the colonies live really far away from the government so those people felt that they had more freedom. and sometimes they did not have to pay taxes. unlike the people who live in a big neighborhood right next to the government.
They were unfamilair with the land that was a disatveantage. They were better trained and equppet with more men, supplies, and expieince. The geography did not help the British as far as i am concerned.
It did not help it, as in good right help. But it did in the sense that it helped the colonies rise up quickly economicly speaking. This lead to advances in science and other things. And then the dinosaurs came in(just kidding).

Religious tolerance (apex)
In the northern colonies, it was rocky and there were lots of forests, so they made lumber, built ships, had more busy cities, and had good fishing. In the southern colonies, there was fertile soil and a hotter climate, which was good for growing cash crops. Also, it was mostly rural. In the middle colonies, there was a large variety of land, which was good for growing tobacco and indigo. They were mostly farmers, but fishing, lumber, and shipbuilding were also common. These colonies were a cross between the north and south.Just did this for 7th grade social studies hw... hope its helpful!
The affect that geography had on the economy of the middle Colonies was to help the economy. Farming was the main source of the economy and the fertile soil, and Natural Resources aided the Middle Colonies economy.
