There were two types of dollar coins struck that year. Neither one carries an Indian head design. The large silver dollar carries a Seated Liberty image, while the small gold dollar carries a Liberty Head image. What you have is a well known novelty/fantasy piece. The 1851 Indianhead dollar isn't a counterfeit because there was never a real version produced by the U.S. Mint. They're made in China, contain no silver, and aren't worth anything.

One of the easiest methods is to weigh it. A genuine 1851 Seated Liberty silver dollar should weigh 26.73 grams, or slightly less if it's heavily worn. If one side has an Indian head on it, similar to the cent minted 1859-1909, it's a novelty coin, and not worth anything.
