Millions of students receive financial aid each year in the form of grants, loans, and scholarships. The majority of students use this money wisely, but many students do not. Obviously, Financial aid money should be used for necessities rather than luxurious purchases. Don’t end up wasting money that you need for your education - this can ruin your future.

* Financial aid shouldn’t be used for purchasing electronics or vacation trips. Of course, a computer for school is a perfectly okay purchase. On the other hand, a new gaming system is not a wise purchase. Should you need to buy a new computer, it shouldn’t be packed with every piece of new technology out there.

* A student doesn’t need to eat out every day or even more than once a week. Honestly, $100 a week on groceries from the store will last much longer than $100 a week on fast food. For food, financial aid money should be used at the grocery store.

* When purchasing textbooks for the semester, its best to use your financial aid on used or rented textbooks. This can save you hundreds of dollars per year and you can get some of that money back if you sell used textbooks at the end of the semester.

* If you have loans for financial aid, then you should try to spend as little of that money as possible. Of course, you should still get the things you absolutely need - textbooks, room and board, etc. However, the less money you spend is best because you can return any unused portion of the money to get your loan balance reduced.

* Financial aid money should never be used for purchasing anything that won’t be used while you are in school. Also, wasteful spending of financial aid can lead to hundreds of different problems for you throughout school and the rest of your life.

Misusing financial aid can lead to financial issues, such as debt and having absolutely no money available to get by with. You should never misuse aid and it should only be used for what it’s designed for - getting through the school year.
