Every President since Harry S Truman, but by far President Obama has been the most supportive of Israel and the Palestinian people. President Obama does have a problem with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Obama and Netanyahu disagree on the need for Iran to have a nuclear weapons program, over ISIL being junior varsity, over West Bank settlements and ultimately on a Palestinian state in the Levant. Obama feels betrayed that Netanyahu refuses to work with Hamas, Iran and ISIL and that Netanyahu does not support Islam.

Pretty much every US President since Israel's establishment has been favorable to Israel, however, it was only during the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson and subsequent presidents that the "special US-Israel relationship" formed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "helped the Israelis." Most US presidents, Barack Obama included, have regarded Israel as an important ally in the middle east, and most US presidents have provided Israel with monetary aid. In fact, American presidents have generally been very supportive of a strong and secure Israel, a policy that has endured since the country's founding in 1948. Meanwhile, five US presidents have visited Israel while they were still in office: President Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon.

Since President Harry Truman decided to recognize the new state of Israel, nearly every US president to a greater or lesser degree has had a positive relationship with Israel, and considered it an important ally. You may have read on some conservative websites that President Obama is anti-Israel, but that is not true. While Mr. Obama does not get along well with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, he has continued the same pro-Israel policies of his predecessors.
