Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt was an officer of the Rough Riders which was a cavalry unit that became famous for its charge up San Juan Hill during the Spanish-American war. They trained in Texas to prepare to fight in Cuba, Theodore Roosevelt recruited some of the members in a bar in San Antonio, next to the Alamo. The bar is still there. Leonard Wood was the commander of the unit.
I believe the Rough Riders were a group lead by Teddy Roosevelt (U. S. President 1901-1909) and that had something to do with the Spanish-American War.

His cavalry unit in the Spanish-American War was called "the Rough Riders" by the press. I don't know that anyone referred to TR personally as "Rough Rider," though he was a Rough Rider.
Rough Rider Knives are generally inexpensive knives that retail for very cheap. The prices for these Rough Rider Knives vary in the range of $5 to $10.
