The president has to be 35 years or older, has to be a natural born US citizen and has to have at least lived in the US for 14 years. There are no other legal requirements. Of course, he has to get nominated and elected and the process requires that he be adept at making speeches and answering leading questions from reporters. Anything that he has ever said or done can be used against him.
