Unit awards (Presidential Unit Citations, i.e.) are not personal decorations- they are awarded to members of an entire unit on a single date. If you were a member of the unit when it was awarded, you can wear it forever, regardless of where your military career sends you. If you became a member of that unit AFTER the Citation was awarded, you can wear it while you are a member of that unit, but upon transfer, you are no longer authorized to wear it on your uniform.
