Since the south disliked him because they thought he would ruin their way of life and they eventually would secede, the north was loyal to lincoln and they had a higher population of people. The north had majority vote towards the winning of lincolns election.

Believe it or not there were no polls in 1860. This is a modern idea and really rather silly since they don't mean anything. A poll is only as good as the population polled. This past election proves that.
