Unless it's a proof or uncirculated coin in its original package, ALL golden dollar coins are general circulation issues worth exactly face value. About a quarter of a billion of each presidential design are being struck every 3 months, so there are plenty to go around.
Regardless of all the urban legends, these coins are as you noted only gold-colored, and do not contain any real gold. They're struck in a manganese-brass alloy that would sell for about 7¢ if melted.
Some of the new dollars have been sold for hundreds of dollars as they are what are known as error coins. Example: George Washington Dollar- some were not imprinted with the edge inscription. These are known as Godless dollars and are worth between 60.00 and a 100.00 ea. Thomas Jefferson dollars had the same problem but more rare about 200.00 to 300.00 ea. this all determines on their condition of course. Look on line to any of the leading coin magazines, collectors will give good money for legitimate error coins. The US Mint will not, these coins have worth to collectors only.
Like all other current dollar coins it's just gold-COLOR, not real gold. After all, even the most boneheaded government functionary wouldn't authorize a coin that would be worth 300 or 400 bucks and put it in circulation for a dollar.... which is exactly what all current dollar coins are worth, $1.

Please take another look at your coin. That means you have a modern Presidential $1 coin. Hundreds of millions of them have been minted, and they have no added value.
One dollar. In uncirculated condition it might be worth a bit more, but not MUCH more.
