As of right now for a person who is Non-prior Service (never enlisted in any branch of service) the Army's cut off age is 42. However the age is set at 42 years old but the individual must leave for Basic Combat Training prior to the 42 Birthday.
For a person who has Prior Service (has previously enlisted in a branch of service and holds a honorable discharge) there is a math mathematical equation that must be done to determine eligibility. It is based on the previous years of Active Federal Service and your current age. You must be able to retire by 62 years old.
The upper age limit for the Navy is 34 for Active Duty, 39 for the Reserves. However, in the Reserve your age limit can be waived for certain positions, particularly if you're an officer. This is common with doctors and lawyers, though it depends on previous service and length of prior service as well.
The age limit for joining the Navy is 34 for Active Duty, 39 for the Naval Reserve. However, in general for the Reserves, they typically take officers who are already commissioned, unless the individual is a doctor, professor, etc., Waivers for just about anything can be granted as well - I myself required a waiver from the Secretary of the Navy in order to join my Reserve Unit at the Pentagon (Asst. Chief of Naval Operations/SW) since Submarine Sonar Techs aren't normally stationed there. Apparently the Pentagon doesn't submerge very well into the Potomac....
