SFOD-D (more commonly known as Delta Force) is.
Real : sfod ( special force operational detactment). And you can always google army rangers delta force and/ or YouTube it as well.
As you may know, the military alphabet goes something like Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, etc. etc. etc. Because Delta Force is offiially SFOD-D, or Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta, it is technically a rung of the broader "Special Forces" of the Army. In the Special Forces there are: A Teams : SFOD-A or Special Forces Operational Detachment - ALPHA B Teams : SFOD-B or Special Forces Operational Detachment - BRAVO C Teams : SFOD-C or Special Forces Operational Detachment - CHARLIE A teams being the 12-man teams of Green Berets that actually do all or most of the on the ground fighting, teaching, etc. And the B and C teams being command and support elements. So when Beckwith came up with the idea for the new specialized Counter-terrorist unit he wanted to create, being that it was going to be a "Special Force", it probably just made the most sense for him and the high-ups in the army organizationally to just add it to the rungs of the already established Special Forces and call it "SFOD-Delta".
Colonel Charlie.A Beckwith saw the need for a US version of the SAS. He served in Vietnam as a Green Beret and then created a sepreate unit apart of the US Army SF called `Project Delta`. After Vietnam Beckwith kept pushing US Army officials to create a unit and finally after many years of hardwork Beckwith finally got the go ahead and in 1977 1st SFOD-D(Special Forces Operational Detachement- Delta) or better known as Delta Force was created.
Probably would be SFOD-D - Delta Force. But I imagine it would be situation dependent, as well. Having an Apache helicopter hunt you down would likely be a very scary scenario for one to find themselves in.
Col (ret.) William 'Earl' Atkinson, Deputy Commander SFOD-1; Commander 7th SFG 1SF, Ft. Bragg ('92); 31-years U.S. Army service.
You don't get selected to become a member of elite forces of the US military - you volunteer, then are required to undergo a selection process. In the case of Army Rangers, one would first have to volunteer to transfer to a Tier 1 unit (such as SFOD - D, a.k.a. "Delta Force") and graduate from the selection process.
The US Government and DoD neither confirm nor deny the existence of "Delta Force." However...The unit is attached to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. It has been known as 1st SFOD-D (First Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta), however that nomenclature has recently changed to the Army Compartmented Element as part of the US Army Office of Sensitive Activities (AOSA)--this is from the Ft. Bragg Post directory.Due to the secretive and secure nature of the unit, no official "start" date is known. The closest approximation is a reference to "Spec Ops" at Ft. Bragg in late 1977.

Delta Force
The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D) - commonly known as Delta, Delta Force or the Combat Applications Group by the United States Department of Defense, is an elite Special Operations Force (SOF) and an integral element of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). It is the United States' primary counter-terrorist unit.Delta Force's primary tasks are counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency and national intervention operations, although it is an extremely versatile group capable of assuming many covert missions, including, but not limited to, rescuing hostages and raids. Delta Force conducts missions similar to those attributed to the British Special Air Service (SAS), on which it was originally modeled.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_force
