US $100,000 bills were printed in orange and black ink. They were gold certificates, so they had a gold seal and serial numbers. The front carried a portrait of Woodrow Wilson, while the back had the words ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS surrounded by ornate scrollwork.
$100,000 bills were the largest denomination of US currency ever printed. The Treasury made about 42,000 of them in late 1934 and early 1935. They were only for use by the Federal Reserve system and were never put in general circulation. Most were later destroyed although a few were kept in public collections including the one held by the Smithsonian.
There is not a one hundred thousand dollar bill. Few people have enough money to ever need a bill that big and those who do use credit.
