Battle stars indicate campaign battles
The ribbon is awarded to military personnel involved in WWII in the European Theater. The four bronze stars mean the person participated in four campaigns during that war. A campaign is a major operation usually involving many Army divisions. This is not to be confused with the bronze star medal ... awarded to someone for valor on the battlefield.
The bronze and silver stars will react with water, eventually. Since I think you mean "metals", how about sodium and potassium?

Bronze Star Medal (BSM)
The Bronze Star is a military decoration awarded to members of the US Armed Forces for acts of heroism, valor, or meritorious service in a combat zone. The bronze star ribbon indicates the individual has been awarded the Bronze Star medal multiple times. The small bronze star ribbon is typically a service ribbon worn on the military uniform to denote additional awards of the Bronze Star medal.
No existing or historical US Military or naval insignia has 8 stars. General of the Army is five stars in a pentagon arrangement. It is true individual battle stars were issued to various battle craft and these were painted on the superstructure in a prominent place- some ships may have received, say 8 or more battle stars. -But there is no rank insignia of 8 stars. an eight pointed star suggests a compass rose, and is associated with hunters, explorers, other outdoors types- but is not a military insignia.
Copper/tin alloy.
I think the stars mean how many patriots died
