Franklin D. Roosevelt diagnosed with PolioThe 32nd President of the United States was Franklin D. Roosevelt. President Roosevelt was in office from March 4, 1933 until April 12, 1945 when he died of a cerebral hemorrhage. In 1921 Franklin D. Roosevelt was diagnosed with Polio and was permanently paralysis from the waist down. A recent study in 2003, reveled that it might have been Guillain-Barré syndrome, and not polio but it cannot be proven.
Polio was very common in FDR's time and it was orginally thought that was what he suffered from.Years later a study suggested it was Guillain-Barré syndrome. See "What was the cause of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's paralytic illness?" (See the related links).
