I don't think George W. Bush was directly connected to Haliburton although, like many others, he may have owned stock in the company at one time. His Vice president Dick Cheney was directly related to Haliburton as a board member prior to becoming the Vice President but stepped down when he reentered public service. I think that because Haliburton was awarded a no bid contract during the Iraq War many thought it was some sort of pay back. Really I think it was just that because Dick Cheney was so familiar with the company and it's competitiors that he knew they could do the job more quickly and effeciently than the others. Still to keep the public favor they probably should have let other companies bid the contract.
