I believe that the most obvious observation of time dilation is in particle accelerators. The particles move so fast that different processes occur slower than when they are not moving, or moving much more slowly.Other than that, I understand that very precise experiments were also done with clocks, which were taken on moving airplanes.
-- Unstable particles in the laboratory are observed to live longer when traveling
at high speeds than when at rest or traveling at lower speeds. The change in their
half-life agrees with the change predicted by the relativistic math.
-- Atomic clocks carried aboard aircraft are observed to lose an amount of time
that depends on the speed and duration of the flight. The loss agrees with the
change predicted by the relativistic math.
-- The successful operation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) depends on
the accuracy of time standards (clocks) carried aboard each GPS satellite.
The system doesn't work unless the clocks aboard the satellites are corrected
for the relativistic time dilation due to their orbital speeds. Then it works.
Time travel is currently not proven to be possible according to our scientific understanding of physics. While there are theories like Einstein's theory of relativity that allow for the possibility of time dilation, actually traversing through time remains a concept of science fiction.
Yes because of pupil dilation
Yes, there can.
We do experience a form of time dilation in everyday life, but the effects are extremely small. Time dilation occurs due to differences in gravitational potential and velocities. In our daily lives, these differences are relatively insignificant compared to extreme situations, such as near a black hole or moving at speeds close to the speed of light, where the effects of time dilation become much more pronounced.
Time dilation always occurs, at ANY speed. The reason it was unknown for solong is that it doesn't become noticeable to us at any speed where we have anydaily experience. But as soon as we had atomic clocks capable of measuringinsanely tiny time differences, and began using them to look for time dilation, there it was, right in front of us, all over the place, in just the predicted amounts.
Dilation
The procedure for dilation of the kidney?
Dilation
The type of dilation that occurs with a scale factor of 14 is enlargement. Any time the scale factor is larger than 1, it is enlargement.
While we do not presently (with our large relative mass) have the energy to reach any speed near the speed of light, we can observe particles that are close to that speed. Time dilation has been verified using such techniques. Also, even at slow speeds, time dilation is observable, but the precision of the measurement is very tight. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_dilation
The opposite of dilation in math is contraction
Time dilation is an actual change in the passage of time due to the relative motion between two observers. It has been confirmed through various experiments and is a fundamental prediction of Einstein's theory of relativity.
