WOO HOO.... I was pissed. So I applied to Walgreens and I started out at around $11.50 being a certified pharmacy tech and I have been there now for 2 years and I am over $12 now. I have heard that each pharmacy does have a cap as far as how much one makes but I'm not sure what it is. Also, with Walgreens, if you become a senior tech, you make more money based on the amount of prescriptions filled.

Im not positive,BUT, I have heard that you can work in a pharmacy for a year and then go and take your testing to get certified. You dont make as much as an already certified technician but you'll get a raise once you pass your certification. Call around and find out.

They check prescriptions to verify that it is the right medication for the right patient and bag it up and put it away for the customer. It can be a little different from retail to hospital but mainly the same thing. They supervise their techs and check and confirm medications. They also counsel the patients. Techs arent aloud to do that
