Senate terms are not only longer but they overlap, since one-third of the Senate is elected every two years. This provides more stability, the modern development of House members remaining in office for decades being a development more recent than the original practice. The Senate has some duties that are different than the House, such as ratifying treaties and consenting to presidential appointments. The Senate is considered as representing the states, while the House represents the people (even though since 1913 members of both houses are directly elected by the people).
Senators are elected for a longer term than Representatives.
They are elected for longer terms because they were considered to be senior, perhaps smarter than Representatives.
They are also elected in an alternating pattern of years that [in my view] was and is one of the most brilliant elements of stability in constitutional government ever concieved.
To determine the exact numerical differences among the various gubernatorial, Congressional, Senatorial and presidential elections I suggest you download and read the CONSTITUTION! ~(and the amendments).
Not in the United States they aren't: they have fixed terms. There are different rules in different places: in Ancient Rome, senators did hold offices for their lifetimes.
Representatives term is 2 years. and senators term is 6 years
There are no Senators in the House. Senators are elected to the US Senate while Representatives are elected to the US House of Representatives. Senators serve terms of six years while Representatives serve 2 year terms.

there are more representatives than there are senators. senators=100 (2 per state) representatives=435 (depends on census count)
While U.S. Senators serve a six-year term in their elected offices, Representative serve two-year terms in Congress. Due to the staggering of terms for Senators, approximately one-third of Senators are elected every two years.
In the Maine state legislature, there are 151 representatives who are elected to 2 year terms. There are 35 state senators, also elected to 2 year terms.
There are 435 representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives. Representatives serve a two-year term of office, and all 435 seats come up for election at once, in even-numbered years. There are 100 Senators in the U.S. Senate. Senators serve a six-year term of office, and 1/3 of the Senate seats come up for election in even-numbered years.
Senators serve 6 year terms. Representatives serve 2 year terms. Representatives have always been elected by popular to represent the interests of the electorate. Senators were originally appointed to represent the interests of the State
The normal term lengths are six years for senators and two years for representatives.
State senators
Together they are known as "Congress" Technically both US senators and representatives CAN be correctly referred to as "Congressman" or "Congresswoman" but those terms are normally reserved for members of the House of Representatives and senators are simply called "Senator".
